All three values depict a swallow carring a letter in t its beak. The Gediminas castle tower in Vilnius in the background. The CIETUVA variety in the 40 ct value occurs in pos. 20 in one of the panes, and pos. 2 in the other pane. The PAĐPAS variety in the 40 ct value occurs 10 times in the sheet: the 1st and 6th stamps in rows 2, 4, 6, 8, 10. The unwatermarked stamps must have been related with a deffective process in the manufacture of the watermarked paper. The intersecting mesh is never to distinct. Other minor varieties exist in this issue due the lithographic printing process. |
